CLOCK FACE SPOOL TABLE

If you are lucky enough to find one of these old electrical spools when you are out on your
morning walk, like I was a few weeks ago, grab it and run (or call me please!) This was definitely one of those "finds" that I had been looking for and I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it.....I just had to wait til I was in the mood (creatively speaking of course!)
First things first, I needed to clean and sand it. Then I added the wheels which I had picked up at Home Depot in a 4pk for only $5. After that I applied 2 coats of white paint I had on hand from a previous project.

Time for the fun part. Tape off 8 stripes with some painters tape (I used both pink and blue tape in the picture because that's what I had on hand). Now paint the exposed areas with your color of choice; I used Folk Art Chalk paint in "Patina".
Tip: Chalk paint can be pricey; I get this brand at Walmart and it is very reasonable and comes in a bunch of cute colors.
Remove tape immediately. Don't worry if you have any seepage (is that a word?) We will sand again at the end.

Next stencil on your numbers with a dark paint. For the bottom tray of this table I chose to dry brush it with the same color as in my stripes. Once it has dried completely, sand the edges and any other areas you want to distress a bit. Apply a poly sealer with a brush (that's what I did) or you can use a spray sealer.

Optional last step: I added some rope cording I picked up at Michaels for $3 and hot glued it around the top edges to give it a more nautical feel.

So all in all this project cost me out of pocket approx. $8. Keeping in mind I had the paint, sealer, and stencils all on hand. My kind of frugal project. Hope you enjoyed this and it either made you want to go walking and look for a spool (haha), or it made you want to pull up a chair, pour yourself a drink and keep on reading! Either way, Enjoy!
WooHoo! I got to cross this one off my Bucket List!
